Energy Management – let’s introduce ourselves
At Energy Management we design, research, deliver and verify functions and software systems to improve energy efficiency, minimize range anxiety and ensure a market-leading charging experience while balancing attributes using available data and given hardware.
We are 7 engineers with diverse backgrounds located in Gothenburg and have the overall responsibility to inform, educate and coach users in their electrification experience while driving. Some of our inputs are customer feedback, conclusions from benchmarks and lessons learned. The design team works closest with the development/programming teams that will implement the systems, but we collaborate with many different areas within Volvo Cars such as the teams responsible for charging, battery and thermal management, but also UX design and Product validation team.
What you’ll do
The work includes define and document requirements, defining the function and system design and verifying the complete function and system design for vehicles. Understanding and predicting user behavior is part of the job description as the team is involved in developing the user interface.
It also includes:
Data analysis, architecture and system design (refining high-level goals into smaller responsibility areas that can be distributed to components)
Benchmarking and planning the work ahead to ensure the continuous improvement of energy management functions such as range prediction, power meter, state of charge, battery thermal management, range and trip assistant as well as supporting energy predictions for navigation systems.
Your initial tasks will be based upon the competence and experience you bring into the team, but independently of your tasks you will need to collaborate with many different teams and individuals, both internal and external to the department.
A few weeks of travel per year might occur.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for a Function and System Design engineer to strengthen the Energy Manager design team. We seek someone who is open minded and curious with a good ability to cooperate in a flexible environment. You have good communication skills, both orally and in writing, and the ability to cope with many topics in parallel. You are a technical-minded team player who appreciate to work with different cultures and people. Besides being user focused, you have a strong analytical capability, is structured and organized in daily work.
