All thesis projects are arranged in business-critical areas and therefore you will be able to contribute to our company purpose – providing freedom to move in a safe, sustainable, and personal way – from day one!
Background
The rapid evolution of the automotive sector toward electric vehicles is significantly propelled by the technological advancements in thermal management systems. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) exhibit heightened sensitivity to temperature control, a feature distinguishing them from conventional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles. The optimal operating temperature window for BEV batteries is notably narrower, and the traction battery is responsible for supplying energy to critical functions, such as climate control, directly influencing the BEV's driving range. Therefore, having an optimized thermal management system is key to ensure the efficient operation of BEVs without compromising performance or climate comfort.
Scope
Study of different degassing concepts for BEV Thermal Management System.
Thermal Management systems are becoming more important for energy efficient BEV solutions and therefore optimization of system (from cost, quality and efficiency/heat losses point of view). The intention of this Master Thesis is to find what is the optimal degassing solution for the Thermal Management System of a BEV.
As part of study, different existing concepts from both literature and benchmark of competitors to be evaluated. It will be followed by the conceptual design of a solution for VCC BEV applications and the creation of a digital twin to verify the functionality of the designed system. As final part of study, the digital twin will be validated with a test rig.
